Man in Custody After Baby Kidnapped and Mother, Friend Killed in New Mexico

Suspect Charged with Murder, Kidnapping, and Child Abuse

A man has been taken into custody following a tragic incident in New Mexico where a baby was kidnapped and her mother and friend were killed last week.

The suspect, Alek Isaiah Collins, 26, hailing from Houston, Texas, has been identified as the main perpetrator in the case, according to the Clovis Police Department.

Collins faces charges of two counts of first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, and two counts of child abuse in connection to the brutal attacks. Authorities have confirmed that he is not related to the victims.

The horrifying incident unfolded on 3 May when a 911 call alerted law enforcement to two deceased females at Ned Houk Park. The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Samantha Cisneros, the baby’s mother, and Taryn Allen, also 23. Both women are believed to have succumbed to gunshot wounds.

Both victims hailed from Texico, New Mexico. A young girl was found at the scene with a head injury.

Authorities also discovered a baby car seat, stroller, and baby bottle at the scene, prompting a search for a missing infant.

Family members informed law enforcement that Cisneros had a 10-month-old baby named Eleia Maria Torres. An Amber Alert was subsequently issued for the child.

The infant was located with Collins at a residence in Abilene, Texas, after being missing for four days. Life-saving measures were promptly administered, and the child was transferred to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.

Collins has been apprehended and is currently being held at Taylor County Jail as the investigation continues to uncover the motive behind the heinous crime.

“Even though we have the suspect in custody, there’s still a lot of work that has to be done,” stated the police in a recent update.
