Tragedy struck in Columbus on Saturday night as one person was killed and another injured in a shooting incident that took place in the 400 block of East 13th Avenue. The Columbus Division of Police responded to reports of the shooting at approximately 8:38 p.m.

Victims Identified

The individual who tragically lost his life in the incident has been identified as Jerry Harper Jr., a 54-year-old man from Columbus. The injured party has been named as Derek Miller, a 42-year-old man also from Columbus.

Details of the Incident

Upon arriving at the scene at 430 E. 13th Ave, law enforcement officers found Miller lying outside with two gunshot wounds. Two other individuals were present at the scene, with one claiming that Harper had shot Miller before fleeing.

Harper was later found at a nearby location with a gunshot wound to the jaw and a firearm in his vehicle, which had blood on it. Both Harper and Miller were rushed to Grant Medical Center, where Harper was tragically pronounced dead.

Ongoing Investigation

The individual who alleged that Harper had shot Miller is currently a suspect in the Columbus Police Department’s ongoing investigation into the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the case.
