COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A woman who tragically fell from the stands to her death during a graduation ceremony at Ohio State University last weekend has been identified as a resident of Georgia, authorities announced on Tuesday.
The Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Larissa Brady, aged 53, was pronounced dead at the scene just outside Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Sunday.
An ongoing investigation is looking into the circumstances surrounding Brady’s fall from the 136-foot (41 meters) tall stadium to the pavement below. University spokesperson Ben Johnson stated that Ohio State police do not suspect foul play and believe the fall was not accidental.
The tragic incident occurred around midday near the stadium’s Bell Tower, as the last graduates were entering the stadium for the ceremony. Brady’s daughter was among the graduating students, according to the commencement program.
The commencement ceremony proceeded without any mention of the incident, but some attendees and students were visibly distressed following the fall. A university spokesman mentioned that counseling services have been offered to all graduates and staff who were present at the graduation.
