Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 19-year-old male from Florissant, Missouri, has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the deaths of two siblings in St. Louis County. The suspect, identified as Lamarr Harris, allegedly took a Lyft to and from the victims’ residence, where the tragic incident occurred.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, authorities responded to reports of a shooting in Midland, located approximately 18 miles west of St. Louis, early Sunday morning. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered two individuals, later identified as siblings Marc Rhodes, 19, and Lanija Cooper, 20, suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, both victims succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the incident revealed that Harris, who had previously been romantically involved with Cooper, suspected her of vandalizing his new girlfriend’s car the previous evening. On Sunday morning, Harris reportedly took a Lyft to the victims’ home in St. Louis County, where he engaged in a confrontation with Cooper’s brother, Marc. Following an altercation that resulted in Marc striking Harris, the suspect allegedly drew a weapon and fatally shot Marc.

Harris attempted to flee the scene in a ride-share vehicle but was swiftly apprehended by responding officers. The firearm used in the shooting was recovered at the scene by law enforcement. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office formally charged Harris on Monday, setting his bond at $750,000 cash only.

In addition to the current charges, Harris has a pending case in St. Louis County for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on June 6.

In response to the incident, Lyft stated that they have permanently removed the suspect from their platform and are cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation. The company expressed their condolences to the victims’ families and pledged to assist authorities in any way possible.
