RACINE COUNTY, Wis. — Law enforcement agencies in Racine County successfully apprehended a man accused of stabbing and carjacking an Uber driver in Madison. The dramatic incident unfolded on Monday, May 6, when deputies deployed spike strips and executed a PIT maneuver to bring the suspect to a halt.

Arrest of Suspect

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Antonio Rodgers from Chicago, allegedly stabbed an Uber driver multiple times in a violent carjacking at around 8:41 p.m. in Madison. Following the incident, Racine County deputies were alerted and initiated a pursuit to stop the suspect.

Deputies attempted to halt the suspect’s vehicle on I-94 northbound just north of Kraut Rd at approximately 10:17 p.m. CST. Despite commands to stop, Rodgers reportedly accelerated to speeds exceeding 120 MPH, prompting a high-speed chase.

During the pursuit, a deputy strategically deployed a spike strip near the Highway K entrance ramp, causing damage to the suspect’s tires. Despite this setback, the suspect continued to evade capture until his tire rims were stripped of rubber, reducing his speed to below 50 MPH.

Apprehension and Charges

With the suspect’s speed reduced, Racine County deputies swiftly executed a PIT maneuver, causing the suspect’s vehicle to spin 180 degrees and come to a stop. Surrounding the vehicle, officers and K9 units successfully apprehended Rodgers without further incident.

Following his arrest, Rodgers was taken into custody and interviewed by authorities from Racine and Madison. Subsequently, three charges were filed through the Racine County Jail, with the suspect facing allegations of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, fleeing and eluding, and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. Additionally, he is charged with attempted homicide in connection with the carjacking incident in Madison.
