Recently, a violent incident shook the tranquility of a residence in New City, Rockland County. On the night of April 11, 2024, Ramapo Police Officers responded to a scene of a violent altercation on Trailside Place. According to the press release from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, an unknown man attacked the victim in his own driveway, stabbing him multiple times in the head, neck, and body. The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.

Within 48 hours of initiating the investigation, law enforcement successfully apprehended the suspect. On May 3, 2024, the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Elijah Dean from Orange County, faced arraignment in Rockland County Court. Dean is facing serious charges, including Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.

Various agencies, including the Town of Ramapo Police Department, the Spring Valley Police Department, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, the Clarkstown Police Department, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office BCI, collaborated in the investigation.

District Attorney Tom Walsh expressed his firm stance on the incident, stating, “This brutal act of apparently random violence is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Rockland County.” Following the arraignment, Elijah Dean was remanded back to Rockland County Jail with bail set at 1 million cash, 5 million secured bond, and 10 million partially secured bond at 10%. Dean is scheduled for another court appearance on June 18, 2024.
