A 31-year-old man has been accused in the death of a 20-year-old Jacksonville woman, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
On the 4th of November, 2023, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a battery with injuries call on North Pearl Street in the Tallulah/North Shore neighbourhood. It was there that officers discovered Veronica Brown unresponsive outside a home. Tragically, Brown was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
Following an intensive investigation, Corey Martin was identified as the primary suspect in what was described as a “heinous crime” by JSO officials. Earlier this year, Martin was apprehended by the JSO SWAT team on outstanding warrants.
At present, Corey Martin is incarcerated at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on unrelated charges. On Monday, an additional arrest warrant for murder was issued, further implicating him in the death of Veronica Brown.
