The incident took place on April 26 at a residence in the 6800 block of Cerritos Avenue. Long Beach police responded to reports of a person with a gun, only to discover that a home invasion robbery was underway with the suspect still on the premises.

The suspect, a 17-year-old boy from San Bernardino, was located in the yard of the house armed with what appeared to be a firearm. Despite efforts by officers to de-escalate the situation over the course of an hour, the suspect was ultimately shot by police. The exact circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear.

Following the fatal shooting, the suspect was treated by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics and transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The name of the suspect has not been released to the public.

During the investigation into the incident, detectives uncovered the presence of an accomplice who had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. The accomplice, identified as 18-year-old Iskay Mota from Modesto, was apprehended on Wednesday and booked into Long Beach City Jail on charges of robbery, with bail set at $100,000.
