Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A Chester resident, Andre Dejesus, 29, from the 100 block of Booth Street, has been accused of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and firearms offences following a shooting in the city last month. The incident resulted in a victim being hospitalised with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to an affidavit of probable cause for Dejesus’s arrest, filed by Chester Detective Brian Pot and Delaware County Detective David Tyler, the police were called to the 2900 block of Mary Street at 3:11 p.m. after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found the victim lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.

The injured individual was rushed to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for treatment, and as of Monday, their condition remains unknown.

A crime scene was identified near the intersection of Hardwick and Mary Streets, where ballistic evidence and property damage from gunfire were found. Surveillance footage captured the events leading up to the shooting.

In the videos, a light-coloured Mazda sedan was seen travelling north on Highland Avenue before parking on the 400 block of Highland just minutes before the shooting occurred. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Dejesus in the footage.

Subsequent video footage showed the Mazda heading west on Mary Street and coming to a stop near Hardwick Street. The victim approached the passenger side of the Mazda and engaged with the driver. Moments later, the driver exited the vehicle and raised his arm in a manner consistent with firing a firearm.

Audio from another video captured the sound of six shots as the driver raised his arm. The victim attempted to flee but collapsed in front of the Mazda. The driver then returned to the vehicle, reversed it along the entire length of the 2900 block of Mary Street to Thurlow Street.

Dejesus was taken into custody on Thursday and appeared for a preliminary arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Harry J. Karapalides, who set bail at £1 million. He has been detained at the county jail in Concord awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 15 before Magisterial District Judge Shepard Garner.
