Young Man Fatally Shot in East Moline

A tragic incident unfolded in East Moline on Saturday night, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old man from Davenport. Michael J. Robinson was shot multiple times in the Deerfield Woods Apartment complex on the 1000 block of 51st Avenue. The East Moline Police responded to reports of gunshots and found Robinson unresponsive on the ground.

Efforts were made to save Robinson’s life at the scene before he was rushed to Genesis Illini Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. An autopsy has been scheduled by the Rock Island County Coroner to determine the exact cause of Robinson’s death.

Suspect Arrested in Alabama

The East Moline Investigations Division wasted no time in identifying a suspect in the case. Jarquez D. Robertson, a 21-year-old from Huntsville, Alabama, was quickly named as the prime suspect in the shooting. It was believed that Robertson fled the area and was heading back to Alabama in a vehicle.

An arrest warrant was swiftly issued for Robertson on charges of First Degree Murder, with no bond set. Authorities across state lines were alerted to be on the lookout for the suspect and his vehicle. The Huntsville Police Department in Alabama located and apprehended Robertson without any issues.

Robertson is currently in custody at the Madison County Jail in Alabama, awaiting extradition back to the Rock Island County Jail in Illinois for further legal proceedings.
