An incident unfolded on Highway 136, approximately four miles east of Kahoka, in the early hours of the morning. A 2016 Chevrolet Cruze veered off the road and overturned at around 4:50 a.m. on May 6, 2024.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the Chevrolet was heading eastbound when it suddenly departed from the roadway, collided with an embankment, and ultimately flipped over. The driver, a 23-year-old male identified as James L. Alvis from Wayland, MO, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Shockingly, he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. As a result, he was swiftly transported to Blessing Hospital by Clark County Ambulance for medical attention.

Following the collision, the Chevrolet Cruze suffered extensive damage and had to be removed from the scene by Brewer and Sons Wrecker. The Clark County Sheriff’s Department and Wayland Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene to provide assistance.

The authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the exact cause of the incident. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of wearing seat belts while driving to prevent serious injuries in the event of an accident.
