Accident – Death – Obituary News : LEHIGH TWP., Pa. — The Northampton County Coroner’s Office has identified the hiker who was discovered deceased on the Appalachian Trail over the weekend as Raghu Kodali, a 61-year-old resident of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. The tragic incident occurred in Northampton County near the Carbon County line.

According to the commissioner of the Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company, State Police received a report of a missing person on Saturday night. The individual’s car was located in the parking lot for the state game lands off of Blue Mountain Drive shortly after midnight on Sunday. Following a thorough search effort that spanned over 16 hours, the man was found at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Initial reports suggested that the hiker may have been diabetic. K9 units were instrumental in locating the individual just off the trail, deep into the woods, approximately a mile from his vehicle. The cause and manner of death are currently under investigation, with results pending.

Adverse weather conditions and fog presented challenges during the search and rescue operation. Despite the difficulties posed by the inclement weather, first responders remained dedicated to locating the missing hiker.
