In a tragic incident, celebratory firing at the wedding ceremony of the brother of the SSP City’s PSO resulted in the death of a transporter in the Lyari neighbourhood of Karachi on Sunday. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Muhammad Israr Niazi, tragically lost his life after sustaining a fatal bullet wound to his chest. The wedding ceremony was being held in the Tughlaq Line area near Lyari General Hospital.
Israr, who resided in Tughlaq Line and was childless, was the third of six brothers. Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that Israr and his friends were enjoying the wedding festivities when sudden gunfire broke out, causing chaos and panic in the area. Despite trying to seek refuge in a nearby rickshaw, Israr was struck by a stray bullet, leading to his untimely demise.
Following the necessary medico-legal procedures at Civil Hospital, the police handed over Israr’s body to his grieving brothers. However, the Chakiwara police’s alleged attempt to protect the SSP’s PSO from any responsibility has sparked controversy. This has prompted Israr’s family and relatives to demand justice for the loss of their loved one.
Despite initial reluctance from the police, the victim’s family remains steadfast in their pursuit of holding the true culprits accountable. They are determined to file a First Information Report (FIR) against those responsible for Israr’s tragic death.
