Dattatray Bhoir was brutally attacked by two perpetrators with a knife and a belt onboard a local train between Khadavli and Vasind railway stations late at night on April 28
A disturbing video capturing the fatal assault on a 55-year-old man aboard a Mumbai local train has sparked outrage across social media platforms. The victim, identified as Dattatray Bhoir, a farmer from Sajivali village in Shahapur taluka, fell prey to a vicious attack by two assailants armed with a knife and a belt while travelling between Khadavli and Vasind railway stations on the night of April 28. Tragically, Bhoir succumbed to his injuries four days later.
The harrowing incident unfolded as Bhoir, accompanied by his friend Pradeep Shirose and two others, was returning home after attending a friend’s Haldi ceremony in Ulhasnagar. The group boarded a Kasara-bound local train from Shahad station around 2:00 am, taking seats in the general compartment.
Following a thorough investigation, it was revealed that a misinterpretation of banter exchanged between Bhoir and his companions, and the assailants sharing the same compartment, triggered the brutal attack. Unfortunately, Bhoir’s friend also sustained injuries during the violent confrontation.
Recalling the horrifying ordeal, Shirose recounted, “Our jovial banter and laughter seemed to irk one of the individuals standing near the door, who approached us with a knife and launched a vicious attack. Bhoir valiantly tried to defend himself, but the attacker inflicted grave injuries on his stomach and hand. When I intervened, I too suffered wounds to my abdomen. Subsequently, the attacker’s accomplice joined in using a belt to assault us,” as reported by the Indian Express.
Law enforcement swiftly apprehended two suspects, with a manhunt underway for the remaining perpetrators. The arrested individuals, identified as 40-year-old Amol Pardeshi and 21-year-old Tanji Kumar Jammuwal, face charges under sections 302, 324, 337, and 34 of the IPC. Notably, one of the accused had a prior record of assault.
