Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 39-year-old man has been apprehended for allegedly trespassing into the Palam Air Force Station in the Delhi Cantonment area by impersonating a wing commander of the Indian Air Force, authorities revealed on Friday.
Vinayak Chadha, the accused, reportedly attempted to gain access to the air force station’s dental hospital with the intention of seeking medical treatment for his father. The incident was reported to the police by Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Rohit Meena on Wednesday.
According to Meena, Chadha managed to breach the initial security checkpoint by presenting a falsified identification document. However, he was promptly intercepted by air force personnel as he tried to enter the restricted area of the station.
Upon his apprehension, Chadha was handed over to the authorities, who discovered a counterfeit identity card and several liquor cards bearing the names of various defence personnel in his possession. Liquor cards are typically issued to military personnel to avail subsidized rates on alcohol in cantonment areas.
A case has been registered against Chadha under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using a forged document as genuine), and 474 (possession of a forged document with intent to use it as authentic) at the Delhi Cantt police station.
In a subsequent investigation to trace the origin of the forged documents, law enforcement authorities have apprehended another individual from Sultanpuri. The probe into the incident is currently ongoing, with officials working to uncover any additional details.
