A 69-year-old man tragically lost his life and a 5-year-old girl sustained injuries in a devastating accident in Delhi’s Dwarka area involving a rash and recklessly driven Mercedes Benz, according to police reports on Friday.
The unfortunate incident took place on Wednesday and the deceased has been identified as Arun Kumar, with the injured child named Shreeda Goswami, both residents of Dwarka Mor area.
Upon receiving a distress call to the police control room (PCR) regarding the accident near the CNG Pump in Sector-17 of Dwarka, a police team promptly responded to the scene.
“Both the injured individuals were initially taken to IG Hospital in Sector-9, Dwarka by a Good Samaritan, but were later transferred to Venkateshwar Hospital. Unfortunately, during the course of treatment, Arun Kumar succumbed to his injuries,” a senior police official stated.
A case has been registered at Dwarka North police station under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt), and 304A (culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with the tragic incident.
“Efforts are underway to locate the offending vehicle and the driver responsible for this heartbreaking accident,” the official added.
