A man has been taken into custody by the Anaheim Police Department after allegedly attempting to lure a young boy into his vehicle in Anaheim. The suspect, identified as German Reyes Ramos, 46, was apprehended following an incident on the 2900 block of West Orange Street on Feb. 13.
According to reports, officers responded to a potential kidnapping situation at approximately 9:30 a.m. The victim, a 12-year-old boy, informed authorities that a man driving a tan-coloured SUV had approached him and offered him a ride. The suspect was reportedly holding a large sum of money while trying to entice the boy into the vehicle.
Fortunately, the quick-thinking boy managed to escape and contact the police to report the incident. Subsequent investigations led detectives to identify Reyes Ramos as the suspect in question. He was subsequently arrested on Feb. 20 in Anaheim.
Authorities have confirmed that Reyes Ramos was operating a tan 2002 Dodge Durango SUV at the time of his arrest, believed to be the same vehicle used in the attempted abduction. Detectives suspect that Reyes Ramos may have made contact with other juvenile victims in Anaheim and are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in their investigation.
Described as a Hispanic male standing at 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds, Reyes Ramos faces charges of contacting a minor for felonious purposes. He is currently being held on $300,000 bail as the investigation continues. His booking photo has not been released at this time.
