LIVONIA, LIVINGSTON COUNTY, UNITED KINGDOM — The community of Livonia in Livingston County is reeling from a devastating crash that took the life of 21-year-old Valentine Nguyen, a resident of Geneseo.
The fatal incident occurred on the afternoon of February 20 at the intersection of Bronson Hill and Stone Hill roads in Livonia. According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Nguyen was behind the wheel of a passenger vehicle when they attempted to cross Bronson Hill Road and was struck by a commercial dump truck travelling south on the same road. Despite the dump truck driver’s efforts to avoid the collision, the impact was unavoidable.
Tragically, Valentine Nguyen was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. A passenger who was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Authorities from the Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. At this stage, based on initial findings, it does not appear that criminal charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
The response to the crash was swift, with emergency services including Livonia and Lakeville firefighters, Livingston County Advanced Life Support, and Livonia and Livingston County EMS all providing assistance at the scene.
