A man in Clermont County, Kentucky, could be looking at a lengthy prison sentence of up to 45 years if he is found guilty on all charges following a harrowing incident on February 18. Brett Owens, aged 41, has been indicted on a series of serious charges, including attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, attempted aggravated burglary, and attempted burglary, as revealed by Clermont County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Tekulve.
The charges stem from a disturbing 911 call that was placed around 1 a.m. on February 18 in Union Township. The caller reported an armed man, later identified as Owens, aggressively banging on the door of their residence on Redwood Court, prompting a swift response from Union Township police and the prosecutor.
Upon arriving at the scene on Redwood Court, law enforcement officers discovered the victim had sustained five gunshot wounds, although fortunately, the victim is expected to make a full recovery, according to Tekulve.
Subsequently, Union Township police managed to track down Owens, who claimed to be at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The 41-year-old suspect also confessed to shooting the victim, leading to his arrest at the airport.
Currently held in custody in Boone County, Owens awaits extradition back to Ohio. It remains uncertain whether Owens will voluntarily agree to be extradited.
