On Tuesday afternoon, January 23, 2024, law enforcement officers from the Pittsburg Police Department responded to Southwind Cycle and Outdoor, located at 511 N. Broadway St., in Pittsburg, following a report of a burglary. The reporting party informed the authorities that the business’s door had been forcibly damaged, and several items of property, including bicycles and electronics, had been stolen.

Fast forward to Tuesday morning, February 20, 2024, at around 11:13 AM, officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were called to the 700 block of North Broadway St. after the owner of Southwind Cycle and Outdoors identified some of the stolen property. The owner spotted one of the business’s bicycles, valued at $3,550, being ridden by a male suspect in red sweatpants. The officers quickly located the bicycle parked at a nearby business, confirming it was stolen property. Moments later, they found the suspect in red sweatpants walking a few blocks away.

The suspect was later identified as 38-year-old Dwayne William Munger, a resident of Pittsburg. He was taken into custody, and a subsequent search of his residence led to the discovery and recovery of additional stolen property. Moreover, stolen electronics and tools from various other cases reported in Pittsburg were found at the residence. Investigations into these other cases are currently ongoing.

Mr. Munger was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail for booking. Charges are being pursued for Felony Possession of Stolen Property related to the stolen bicycle, and he is being held on a $5,000 bond.
