A suspect in Greensboro, identified as Feliciano Hernandez-Vasquez, is facing multiple charges after firing shots at officers during a standoff that lasted hours. The incident began late on Tuesday night when officers responded to a call from a distressed woman at a residence on Kersey Street.

Upon arrival, the suspect, holding a young child, threatened the officers with a gun. The situation escalated when the suspect barricaded himself. The Greensboro Police Department’s Special Response Team and Hostage Negotiation Team were called in as the standoff continued.

After negotiations failed, the suspect fired shots at the officers from the house’s second story. In response, an officer shot at the suspect, injuring him. The suspect then retreated further into the home, leading to his eventual arrest on Wednesday morning.

Fortunately, the two children in the residence were unharmed, and no officers sustained injuries during the incident. Hernandez-Vasquez, after receiving medical treatment, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, burglary, and other misdemeanors.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Greensboro Police Department will conduct an internal review to ensure compliance with department policies. The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative duty.
