Humphrey, 41, is on probation for drug offenses, officials said, and he will be brought to L.A. to face a murder charge, as he waived extradition.
Mooney’s death drew a great deal of attention after her body was found on Sept. 12, 2023. In addition to the unknown killer and motive, the gruesome details prompted speculation.
Mooney was found in a refrigerator having suffered blunt force trauma to her head, torso, and arms, according to the medical examiner’s report. She had been bound at her wrists and ankles, and the bindings were tied behind her back with “miscellaneous electronic cords and clothing items,” the report added.
She had also been gagged with an article of clothing.
Officials have not said why Humphrey was identified as the suspected killer or what motive he would have to allegedly murder Mooney.
Police are still seeking additional information from the public. Anyone with additional info regarding this case is urged to call Detective Pierce or Detective Marcinek at 213-486-8700.
