New Delhi, Feb 22 (IANS) – A 14-year-old girl was reportedly sexually assaulted by her neighbour in central Delhi, as confirmed by the police on Thursday. The accused has been apprehended.
According to the authorities, they received information about the sexual assault on the minor girl by the accused, who goes by the name Dhananjay, aged 39 and residing in Baljeet Nagar. The incident was reported at Anand Parbat police station.
“The accused, a neighbour of the minor girl, operates a vegetable store in the locality,” stated Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central, M. Harsha Vardhan. “He allegedly assaulted her for the first time in 2021. The victim recently disclosed the matter to her parents, who then approached the police.”
Subsequently, a case under Sections 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 6 of the Pocso Act was registered, leading to the arrest of the accused.
