A stolen vehicle suspect was apprehended after allegedly ramming her car into officers in Costa Mesa on Wednesday afternoon, leading to a dramatic pursuit and eventual arrest.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Destiny Sherer by the Costa Mesa Police Department, was spotted in the stolen vehicle around 12:45 p.m. Officers attempted to pull Sherer over, but she refused to cooperate and instead rammed into patrol vehicles as she fled the scene.

Additional units were called in for backup, and a motor officer was the first to arrive on the scene. While pursuing Sherer through surface streets, another vehicle collided with the officer, causing him to crash in front of a nearby shopping center at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Nutmeg Place. Fortunately, the officer sustained only minor injuries in the incident.

Subsequent police units located the stolen vehicle parked at the shopping center, prompting authorities to establish a perimeter as they searched for the suspect. Sherer was eventually found inside a store within the plaza and taken into custody.

She now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and driving a stolen vehicle in connection with the incident.
