A 35-year-old man from Santa Ana has been taken into custody over the weekend on suspicion of fatally stabbing another man, who was then driven to a nearby fire station where he later succumbed to his injuries, according to authorities.

The suspect, John Danny Tamallo Flores, was arrested around 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, after a police officer spotted his vehicle on a main road and conducted a traffic stop in the 2300 block of North Grand Avenue, as confirmed by Officer Natalie Garcia, a spokesperson for the police department.

Following a lead from a witness description, detectives were able to track down the suspect’s vehicle and identify Flores as the registered owner, leading to his arrest in connection with the stabbing incident.

The altercation between Flores and the victim, 44-year-old Rodolfo Rosell, took place in front of a mixed-use building in the 2000 block of West Chestnut Avenue at approximately 3:15 p.m. on February 15. A companion of Rosell drove him to Orange County Fire Station 73 located at 419 S. Franklin St., where he tragically passed away from his injuries.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities are still probing into the circumstances that triggered the violent confrontation between Flores and Rosell. Initially suspected to be gang-related, the motive behind the attack remains under scrutiny as the investigation progresses, Officer Garcia revealed.
