A 41-year-old man from Monroe, South Dakota, is currently facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly carrying out a brutal attack on his neighbors’ dogs. Philip Geier, the accused, is accused of using a baseball bat to beat the dogs and poisoning them. The incident took place in December 2023, with Geier reportedly trespassing on his neighbors’ properties on multiple occasions.

According to court documents, a deputy from the Turner County police responded to reports of Geier on a neighbor’s property in December. The neighbor, known as Resident 1 in the affidavit, witnessed Geier chasing their dog with a baseball bat. Additionally, they discovered a green substance in their dog’s outdoor water bowl, leading them to suspect that the water had been poisoned by Geier.
Geier had also targeted another neighbor, known as Resident 2, the week prior. Tragically, one of Resident 2’s dogs died shortly after the attack, showing signs of poisoning according to a veterinarian. Apart from using the baseball bat on the dogs, Geier also damaged Resident 2’s front door, leaving one of her dogs with a fractured leg.
