Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a tragic turn of events, the body of a 16-year-old Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) aspirant, who had been missing since February 11, was discovered on Monday night in a forest area in Kota, Rajasthan. The boy, identified as Rachit Sondhya, left his hostel for a routine test and never returned, sparking a search operation that sadly ended in the discovery of his body.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, Sondhya was last seen in CCTV footage near the Garadiya Mahadev temple forest on the day he went missing. The authorities have labelled the case as a suicide, marking the fourth such incident involving students in Kota this year. This tragic event adds to the growing number of suicides among students in the city, known for its numerous coaching centres preparing students for competitive exams.

Following the discovery of Sondhya’s body, a 17-year-old JEE aspirant named Piyush Kapasia is still missing, prompting intensive search efforts to locate him. With two B.Tech students from different universities having already committed suicide earlier this month, the authorities are on high alert to prevent further tragedies.

Investigation and Search Efforts

The post-mortem examination of Sondhya’s body was conducted on Monday night, and the necessary permissions were obtained before handing over the remains to his family. Special teams have been formed to locate Kapasia, who was last seen at the Kota railway station following his disappointing JEE-Mains exam results.

Both Sondhya and Kapasia had been preparing for the IIT-JEE exams in Kota, with Sondhya’s belongings found near the Garadiya Mahadev temple forest. The police have launched an investigation under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) to determine the circumstances surrounding Sondhya’s death.

Community Response and Support

Following these tragic incidents, the community in Kota has come together to support the families of the deceased and missing students. With the increasing pressure and stress faced by students preparing for competitive exams, there is a growing need for mental health support and guidance to prevent such tragedies in the future.

As the search for Kapasia continues and the investigations into Sondhya’s death progress, the authorities are urging students to reach out for help if they are feeling overwhelmed or distressed. The well-being and safety of students should be a top priority for educational institutions and coaching centres in Kota and beyond.
