In a shocking turn of events, a student has been taken into custody on murder charges following the tragic shootings of two individuals in a dorm room at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed the arrest of Nicholas Jordan, 25, on two counts of first-degree murder. University spokesperson Jenna Press revealed that Jordan was a student at the institution at the time of the incident.

The victims have been identified as Celie Rain Montgomery, 26, and Samuel Knopp, 24, a student at the university located approximately 69 miles south of Denver. Montgomery was not currently enrolled at the university.

Following the issuance of an arrest warrant, the police’s motor vehicle theft unit located Jordan in a vehicle, and the tactical enforcement unit apprehended him in Colorado Springs without any resistance. The authorities have emphasized that the shooting on Friday was an isolated incident involving individuals who were acquainted with each other, rather than a random attack on the school premises.

While the cause of death will be determined by the coroner’s office, it has been disclosed that each victim sustained at least one gunshot wound, as previously stated by the police. The authorities were alerted early Friday morning about gunfire emanating from the university’s dormitory, Creston House, where the two individuals were tragically discovered deceased.

A campus-wide lockdown was implemented for 90 minutes following the shooting, and the university remained closed for the remainder of the day and throughout the weekend. Monday classes were canceled, with the university providing walk-in counseling services to support the campus community.

On Monday, a memorial walk was held at the university, which caters to over 11,000 students and nearly 2,000 faculty and staff members. The presence of an attorney representing Jordan in this case remains unknown, and court records are currently unavailable with no scheduled hearing date.
