Authorities in Buena Park apprehended a suspect on Monday believed to be involved in a shooting incident outside a 99 Cents Only store in Santa Ana. The incident occurred on Sunday night, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Incident Details
At approximately 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, the Santa Ana Police Department received a report of a shooting victim at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange. The injured man, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the forearm, informed officers that he was sitting in a vehicle parked next to the discount store on North Main Street when he heard gunshots. Realizing he had been hit, he immediately sought medical attention.
According to Officer Natalie Garcia, a witness at the scene reported seeing the suspected shooter fleeing in a white Ford Explorer. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, as it is uncertain whether the victim was the intended target or if the incident was a case of mistaken identity.
Suspect Apprehended
Following a joint effort between the Buena Park Police Department and Santa Ana police officers, the suspect’s vehicle was located on Monday. A traffic stop was conducted, leading to the arrest of 38-year-old Johnell Marquise Jackson. Jackson faces charges of attempted murder and other firearm-related offenses in connection to the shooting.
