A 25-year-old man, Nicholas Jordan, has been arrested in connection with the tragic double shooting at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs that claimed the lives of two individuals. The victims have been identified as Samuel Knopp and Celie Rain Montgomery.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, Jordan was apprehended without incident on Monday morning. He was found in a vehicle at Cliff Point Circle East. The police department tweeted that a booking photo of Jordan will be released once he is processed into El Paso County Jail.

An investigation into the double shooting is currently ongoing, with the homicide unit obtaining an arrest warrant for two counts of first-degree murder for Jordan, who hails from Detroit, Michigan.

Victims Identified as Samuel Knopp and Celie Rain Montgomery

The victims of the double shooting have been named as Samuel Knopp, a senior at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, and Celie Rain Montgomery, a resident of Pueblo. Knopp, known for his musical talents, was studying music in the Visual and Performing Arts department.

Montgomery, who was not a student at the university, worked as a Freelance Health & Wellness Copywriter in the holistic wellness space. Her LinkedIn profile indicated that she had studied psychology and human growth development at Pueblo Community College.

Knopp and Montgomery were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds to the head on Friday morning, prompting a lockdown at the university for about 90 minutes.

Police Investigation and Community Response

Authorities have stated that they do not believe the incident was a murder-suicide. The investigation indicates that it was an isolated incident involving individuals who were acquainted with each other and not a random attack against the university or its students.

The cause and manner of the victims’ deaths have not yet been disclosed by the coroner’s office. Police are urging anyone with information about the crime to come forward and assist in the investigation.

A relative of Montgomery mentioned on Facebook that she was a single mother of two daughters, aged five and seven.
