Hyderabad witnessed a heartbreaking incident as a 30-year-old woman took her own life at her rented flat in Himayatnagar. The woman, who worked as an event organiser, was allegedly facing harassment from her live-in partner, leading to this tragic outcome.

Details of the Incident

The woman had accused her partner of harassing her 13-year-old daughter, which prompted the Narayanaguda police to register a case under the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and abetment to suicide against the accused, identified as Khalid.

According to the police, the woman had been married since 2009 and has two children. However, due to issues with her husband, she had separated from him a few years ago. Subsequently, she started living with Khalid, who operated an event management firm.

Family’s Allegations

The family of the deceased woman claimed that Khalid had been pressuring her for money and had also behaved inappropriately with her daughter. Despite numerous pleas and requests to stop the harassment, Khalid continued to mistreat her. Unable to bear the torment any longer, the woman took the extreme step of ending her life.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing issues of harassment and abuse within relationships. It highlights the need for support systems and interventions to protect vulnerable individuals from such harmful behaviours.
