Accident – Death – Obituary News : A woman in Texas is sharing her harrowing experience after being shot multiple times by police in Harris County, Texas, who mistakenly identified her as an intruder inside her friend’s apartment. Eboni Pouncy recently spoke to ABC13 about the terrifying incident that took place on February 3, leaving her with gunshot wounds from law enforcement officers.

The incident unfolded after a neighbor called 911 to report a suspected break-in at the apartment where Pouncy was visiting her girlfriend. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call, leading to a tragic series of events. Pouncy explained that she and her girlfriend had broken a window to enter the apartment after realizing they had forgotten the keys. Despite the officers identifying themselves, Pouncy, armed for protection due to the broken window, did not hear their warnings as she approached the door.

“We got into the house. We were watching TV,” Pouncy recalled. “There was a knock at the door at that time, and I got up, and I grabbed my gun, and I went to go greet who was ever at the door…Because the window was broken, and I believed I was taking safety precautions at that time of night, and so I was just trying to do the right thing.”

Body camera footage revealed the deputies shouting for Pouncy to “drop the gun” before firing multiple shots at her inside the apartment. The 28-year-old sustained bullet wounds in her leg, torso, and other parts of her body. As investigations continue, the officers involved have been placed on leave. Pouncy has enlisted the legal representation of civil rights attorney Ben Crump, drawing parallels between her case and the tragic killing of Breonna Taylor.

“We all know that every American citizen right now is keenly aware of their Second Amendment rights and their rights to bear arms,” Crump stated. “Why is it a presumption that we don’t have a right to the Second Amendment? This reminds you of the tragic killing of Breonna Taylor, where her boyfriend was a law-abiding gun-registered citizen. And yet, the police busted in their front door, shooting and killing Breonna.”

The case is under scrutiny by Texas authorities and will be presented to a grand jury to determine if the officers will face criminal charges. The incident has sparked outrage and renewed conversations about police accountability and the rights of individuals to defend themselves. As Pouncy continues to recover from her injuries, she hopes that justice will be served and that similar incidents can be prevented in the future.
