Massachusetts State Police have identified the pedestrian who tragically lost her life in a car crash on Route 146 north in Sutton on Saturday evening as 34-year-old Nicole Young from Thompson, Connecticut.
The incident occurred near exit 13 at 6:35 p.m., prompting a swift response from troopers who located Young at the scene. According to a press release from state police, first responders treated her for life-threatening injuries before transporting her to UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Tragically, Young was pronounced dead at the hospital. Fortunately, the driver and passengers in the vehicle involved in the collision did not sustain any injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, as well as the reason for Young’s presence on the highway, remain unclear at this time.
Thompson, situated in the northwest corner of Connecticut near the Massachusetts and Rhode Island borders, is approximately 20 miles away from Sutton. The town is connected to Massachusetts via I-395.
