Accident – Death – Obituary News :

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB/Gray News) – A tragic incident has unfolded in Louisiana, resulting in the death of a 3-year-old girl named Blessing Buckles. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence following reports of an unresponsive child. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Blessing with significant injuries, including a brain bleed and visible bruises consistent with blunt force trauma. Tragically, Blessing succumbed to her injuries and passed away a few days later.

The investigation into Blessing’s death led to the arrest of four suspects, including two children. Among those taken into custody are a 10-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy, Terica Scott (26) – the mother and aunt of the juvenile suspects, and Dineshia Yates (26) – the mother of the deceased toddler. The circumstances surrounding Blessing’s death have shocked the community and raised concerns about the welfare of children in the household.

Deputies were initially alerted to the situation by a child who reported the absence of adults at the residence. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that eight children, ranging from 11 months to 12 years old, had been left unattended for an extended period. The negligent behaviour of the adults involved has drawn criticism and prompted a closer look at the living conditions of the children.

Arrest records indicate that Yates and Scott had been living together for approximately two weeks, during which time they allegedly left the children unsupervised on multiple occasions. Tragically, it was during one of these instances that Blessing suffered fatal injuries at the hands of the two juvenile suspects – Scott’s son and nephew. Both boys have been charged with simple battery and second-degree murder.

In the wake of Blessing’s death, Scott and Yates have been arrested and are facing serious charges related to their alleged involvement in the incident. Scott is accused of being an accessory to second-degree murder and battery, while Yates is facing charges of aiding and abetting second-degree murder and battery. The Department of Children and Family Services has been notified of the case, underscoring the need for a thorough examination of the circumstances that led to this tragic outcome.

The community is reeling from the loss of young Blessing and the shocking revelations surrounding her death. As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to ensure that justice is served for the innocent victim and to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
