In Tampa, Florida, a woman has been taken into custody after being involved in a DUI incident and allegedly assaulting an emergency room nurse on Friday night. The arrest report details the events that led to her arrest.

Crash and Arrest

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman, identified as 47-year-old Katrina McGrade, was involved in a collision with a tree on Sunset Point Boulevard. Upon investigation, authorities found two empty alcoholic drinks in her Lexus RX 350’s driver’s side door pocket. The vehicle had front-end damage and its airbags had been deployed.

Sumter County deputies, who were also at the scene, observed the aftermath of the crash. Following the incident, McGrade was taken to UF The Villages Hospital for treatment.

Assault at the Hospital

Upon arriving at the hospital, deputies were informed by the security staff that McGrade had attacked an emergency room nurse and was being verbally abusive towards the hospital staff. The nurse was reportedly kicked in the stomach by McGrade while trying to pick up her shoe from the floor. Multiple witnesses confirmed the incident.

Despite attempts to interview McGrade, she refused to cooperate and continued to display aggressive behaviour towards the deputies and hospital staff. It was revealed that McGrade had a blood alcohol content of .287, which is nearly four times the legal limit.

Arrest and Charges

Following her treatment at the hospital, McGrade was arrested and taken to the Sumter County Jail. While in custody, she provided breath samples which showed blood alcohol levels of .148 and .149 per 210 liters of breath.

McGrade is now facing charges of DUI and battery in connection with the incident. The severity of her actions has resulted in legal consequences for her reckless behaviour.
