A tragic incident unfolded at the picturesque John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo, Florida, on Friday afternoon, resulting in the death of a 54-year-old man named Leonard Cleveland Brown from Boca Raton.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call around 12:15 p.m. reporting a medical emergency at the popular snorkeling spot. Brown had been snorkeling with a commercial vessel from Bungalows Key Largo when he suddenly lost consciousness.

Witnesses on the boat immediately sprang into action and began administering CPR to Brown in a desperate attempt to revive him. Despite their efforts, Brown tragically passed away at Marnier’s Hospital in Tavernier.

Authorities have confirmed that there is no suspicion of foul play in connection with Brown’s death, suggesting that it was a tragic accident that occurred while enjoying the natural beauty of the coral reef.
