LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Loudoun Fire Rescue has released the name of the firefighter who tragically lost his life in Friday’s devastating home explosion in Sterling.

The firefighter has been identified as 45-year-old Trevor Brown, a dedicated member of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company. Brown had been serving with the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LC-CFRS) since 2016.

In addition to Firefighter Brown, crews from Loudoun and Fairfax Counties identified a total of 13 victims in connection with the explosion. This includes 11 first responders and two individuals who sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Of the injured first responders, four remain hospitalized at local medical facilities for further treatment and care.

The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident to determine the cause of the explosion.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of all those affected by this tragic event. The entire community mourns the loss of Firefighter Trevor Brown and stands in solidarity with the brave first responders who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.
