Two young individuals have been formally charged in connection with the tragic events that unfolded during Wednesday’s Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory parade.
“The juveniles are currently in secure detention at the Juvenile Detention Center facing charges related to firearms and resisting arrest,” stated the Jackson County Family Court Division. “Further charges are anticipated as the Kansas City Police Department’s investigation progresses.”
Authorities have refrained from disclosing the identities of the suspects involved in the incident.
Out of the 22 people who sustained gunshot wounds during the shooting, over half of them are under the age of 16, according to the police reports.
The victims’ ages ranged from eight to 47 years old, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the attack.
The tragic loss of life in the incident was identified as local DJ and mother-of-two, Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan.
A GoFundMe campaign initiated by Ms Lopez-Galvan’s family has garnered over $190,000 in donations, with notable contributions from singer Taylor Swift, who contributed a significant portion of the funds.
On the official GoFundMe platform, Taylor Swift remains the top donor, having donated $50,000 twice to support Ms Lopez-Galvan’s family, expressing her heartfelt condolences.
