Accident – Death – Obituary News : A resident of Kearney, identified as 37-year-old Justin Hadenfeldt, was apprehended by authorities following a car crash in Alda on Friday morning. Hadenfeldt is the prime suspect in a recent assault case that resulted in a woman sustaining serious injuries.
Nebraska State Patrol reported that troopers responded to a collision involving a black Chevy Silverado driven by Hadenfeldt and a semi-truck near the Alda interchange at 10:30 a.m. Friday. KSNB Local4 News stated that upon investigation, they identified Hadenfeldt and established his connection to the ongoing assault investigation.
The Kearney Police Department (KPD) confirmed that Hadenfeldt sustained injuries in the crash and is currently receiving treatment at a Grand Island hospital. Upon his discharge, he will face charges of first-degree assault, strangulation resulting in serious bodily injury, and burglary, all stemming from an incident reported on Wednesday morning.
In an assault-related incident earlier in the week, KPD officers responded to a 911 call at a Kearney residence on Wednesday. They found a woman with assault-related injuries that required immediate medical attention. The woman was rushed to a local hospital, where it was determined that Hadenfeldt had entered the residence and assaulted her, leaving her unconscious with severe injuries. Two young children were also present during the incident.
Kearney Police Department swiftly issued an arrest warrant for Hadenfeldt and had been actively searching for him until his involvement in the Alda crash.
