Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A protest led by locals and political parties in Wayanad took a violent turn as forest department officials were allegedly manhandled in Pulpally on Saturday. The protestors not only vandalised a forest department vehicle but also physically assaulted officials from Pulpally town. Despite police presence to provide security, the protestors continued their aggressive stance.

Even the intervention of T Siddique MLA failed to pacify the situation, with protestors refusing to back down. In a disturbing turn of events, a police officer attempting to document the protest was also reportedly attacked. The protestors even went as far as placing a wreath on the government vehicle in a show of defiance.

Adding to the tension, an ambulance carrying the body of Paul, a 49-year-old who lost his life in a recent wild elephant attack, arrived in Pulpally. The protestors used this opportunity to stage a protest with the deceased’s body, further escalating the already volatile situation.

Following the tragic death of Paul, various political parties including the United Democratic Front (UDF), Left Democratic Front (LDF), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for a dawn-to-dusk protest from 6 am to 6 pm outside the Wayanad district collectorate on Saturday.

This incident marks the third fatality in elephant attacks in the area since January 30. Prior to Paul’s death, a 55-year-old man named Lakshman from Narikkal near Mananthavady was killed by a wild elephant on January 30. Similarly, on February 10, a 47-year-old man named Ajeesh met with a similar fate near Mananthavady.
