Tragedy Strikes as Jacksonville Man Faces Charges

A Jacksonville man has been arrested and charged with the double murder of his infant son and the child’s mother, along with the attempted murder of a third child, according to a recent news release. The incident unfolded when authorities discovered the victims near an interstate on-ramp on Tuesday, with one child sustaining critical injuries.

Capital Murder Charges and Attempted Murder Charge

Willie Mott Jr., 43, is now facing two counts of capital murder and one count of attempted murder. Police allege that Mott shot Teangela Tate, 27, and fatally injured his 2-month-old son, Noel Tate, while also causing severe harm to a third child, approximately 1 year old. The nature of the infant’s cause of death has not yet been disclosed, and the injured child’s identity has not been made public.

Arrest and Incarceration

U.S. marshals apprehended Mott on unrelated charges in Jacksonville on Tuesday evening, leading to his subsequent incarceration in the Pulaski County jail. Following the filing of charges by North Little Rock authorities on Friday, Mott is being held without bail, as stated in the news release.

Additional Arrest in Connection with the Case

Mott’s mother, Diane Mott, aged 70, was also taken into custody on Wednesday by North Little Rock officers. She faces charges of hindering apprehension and tampering with physical evidence. Like her son, she is being held in the Pulaski County jail.

The authorities initially discovered Teangela Tate and the two children near the Interstate 440 on-ramp from Arkansas 165 on Tuesday morning. Further investigation led the police to execute search warrants in Jacksonville, which revealed evidence suggesting that the tragic shooting took place at the residence where Mott and Tate lived on Jeff Davis Road in Jacksonville.
