PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – The Portland Police Bureau has released the identity of the victim who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident while crossing the street in southeast Portland last week. The victim, Edward Hanson, aged 44, was struck by a car as he was walking across Southeast 82nd Avenue near Southeast Flavel Street during the early hours of February 5th. Regrettably, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Portland Police Bureau has been actively investigating the incident and has recently provided an update on the case. According to the authorities, the driver responsible for the hit-and-run has been identified as 26-year-old Skyler Lee-Stiles, a resident of Portland. It is alleged that Lee-Stiles was speeding through a work zone when he struck Hanson and callously fled the scene.

Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a deadly crash in the Brentwood-Darlington neighborhood early Monday morning.

Fortunately, swift action by law enforcement led to Lee-Stiles’ arrest the following day, and he was subsequently booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. As part of the investigation, the police also seized Lee-Stiles’ car as crucial evidence in the case.

On Wednesday, Lee-Stiles appeared in court and was formally charged with several offenses related to the incident. These charges include second-degree manslaughter, hit-and-run resulting in injury, five counts of reckless endangerment of highway workers, reckless endangering, reckless driving, tampering with physical evidence, and hindering prosecution. The severity of these charges highlights the gravity of the situation and the potential consequences that Lee-Stiles may face.

The tragic loss of Edward Hanson serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the devastating impact of hit-and-run incidents. The authorities are committed to holding those responsible accountable for their actions and providing justice for the victim and their loved ones.

As the investigation continues, anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the Portland Police Bureau. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers of Oregon hotline, and a reward may be available for information leading to an arrest in this case.

The local community mourns the loss of Edward Hanson and stands united in support of his family during this difficult time. May his memory serve as a reminder to prioritize road safety and ensure that such tragic incidents are prevented in the future.
