New Delhi: A student from Hyderabad has tragically suffered a cardiac arrest while studying in Canada. The bereaved family is now seeking assistance from the Ministry of External Affairs to repatriate the mortal remains back to their hometown. Amjed Ullah Khan, spokesperson of Majlis Bachao Tehreek, shared the details of the deceased with X. The 25-year-old Indian student, identified as Shaik Muzammil Ahmed, was a resident of Tolichowki. He was pursuing a Master’s in Information Technology (IT) from Conestoga College, Waterloo Campus in Kitchener City, Ontario, Canada.

According to a letter addressed to the EAM Dr S Jaishankar, Shaik had been studying in Canada since 2022. He had been experiencing fever for the past week, but the family received heartbreaking news from one of his friends that Shaik had passed away due to cardiac arrest on Monday.

“On hearing this news, his parents and the entire family are in a state of shock and kindly request the assistance of @HCI_Ottawa & @TorontoCGI to repatriate his mortal remains back to Hyderabad as soon as possible,” stated the spokesperson on social media.

Response from the Ministry of External Affairs

In response to the plea, the social media handle of Madad Section, a division of the Ministry of External Affairs dedicated to helping Indians abroad, acknowledged the case and forwarded it to the relevant department.

“The case with Grievance ID CATMTR109799124 has been registered on the Madad Portal and forwarded to the concerned Mission/Post for necessary action. The status can be tracked on the MADAD PORTAL,” stated the official response.

Previously, the same leader shared a video showcasing a brutal attack on an Indian student in the United States and urged the MEA to take appropriate action. In response, the Indian Embassy in Chicago assured the family members of all possible assistance and confirmed their coordination with the relevant authorities in the US for a thorough investigation.
