Anand Henry : Indian-Origin Techie Suspect in US Family Murder-Suicide

New York, 16th February – Tragic Incident Unfolds in California

Anand Henry, an Indian-American former engineer at Meta, has been identified as a suspect in a devastating murder-suicide case that involved himself, his wife, and their four-year-old twins. The shocking incident occurred in Alameda de las Pulgas, California, where the bodies of Anand and his wife, Alice Priyanka Benziger, were discovered with gunshot wounds in the bathroom of their $2.1 million home on Monday.

A 9mm handgun, legally registered to Anand Henry, was found on the bathroom floor alongside the bodies of the couple. The San Mateo Police Department, in collaboration with the San Mateo County Crime Lab and the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office, has identified Anand Henry as the suspect in this tragic event.

Upon entering the residence through an unlocked window, authorities also discovered the lifeless bodies of their two young children in a bedroom, showing no signs of physical trauma. Alice Priyanka Benziger succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, while Anand Henry suffered from a single gunshot wound.

The cause of death for the children is currently pending further pathology examinations, but initial investigations confirm that they did not die from gunfire or exhibit any physical injuries. The police have informed the next of kin about the identities of the deceased.

Contrary to the shocking nature of this incident, the police have clarified that there was no history of violence at the couple’s residence. They continue to investigate the motive behind this tragic event.

The authorities had previously responded to a report of a mountain lion in the couple’s yard in 2020, but there have been no indications of any previous violent incidents.

Anand Henry, who has an extensive background in engineering, worked as a Software Engineering Manager at both Meta and Google. After leaving Meta in June of last year, he ventured into entrepreneurship and founded his own artificial intelligence company called Logits.

In December 2016, Anand had filed for divorce, although it appears that the process was not finalized. Neighbors of the couple, who described them as ‘friendly,’ mentioned that they had resided in the Alameda de las Pulgas home for over four years and seemed to be a content and happy family.

This deeply tragic incident has left the community in shock, and investigations into the motive behind this murder-suicide will persist.
