Accident – Death – Obituary News : LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Recently acquired images reveal the aftermath of a stabbing allegedly carried out by Jesus Ayala, the same teenager accused of a deadly crime spree in Las Vegas during the summer of 2023.

A grand jury indicted Jesus Ayala in January, adding three additional charges related to the stabbing incident near Washington Avenue and Jones Boulevard in June 2023. The charges include attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon, battery with the use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, and attempted robbery with the use of a deadly weapon.

Las Vegas Metropolitan police apprehended Ayala, who was 18 years old at the time, on August 14, 2023. This arrest followed the tragic death of retired California police chief Andy Probst, 64, who was killed while riding his bicycle. Ayala, who was 17 at the time, was the alleged driver in the incident, captured on viral video, where Probst was intentionally hit and subsequently passed away.

Authorities have identified Ayala’s co-defendant, Jzamir Keys, who was 16 years old during the crime spree, as the passenger in the vehicle during the incident involving Probst. Earlier that morning, the teenagers were involved in another intentional hit-and-run incident, this time with Keys as the driver and Ayala as the passenger. Fortunately, the 72-year-old victim in this incident survived.

According to police reports, Ayala and Keys had stolen at least three cars that day and committed both hit-and-run crashes in the stolen vehicles.

Ayala’s involvement in the juvenile system was previously reported by the 8 News Now Investigators. However, in Nevada, juveniles charged with murder can be certified as adults, resulting in the transfer of their cases to the adult system.

Ayala became a suspect in the June stabbing after his arrest in connection with the deadly crime spree. Despite denying any involvement in the stabbing, Ayala’s cell phone records placed him near the crime scene, according to the FBI, which provided assistance in the investigation.

During the incident, the victim stated that he was attacked by the group while taking out the trash. He reported that they demanded his belongings, proceeded to assault him, and ultimately stabbed him. The victim sustained injuries to his face, near his ear, and received five stab wounds to his back, as revealed in grand jury transcripts. These injuries have left him with visible scarring.

Investigators discovered a bloody knife at the crime scene and also obtained video footage from the day after the stabbing, which involved a stolen car and several of the same teenagers.

A jury trial for Ayala is scheduled for September 16, while Keys is set to face trial on November 12..
