World War II Veteran from Crestwood, Kentucky Passes Away at 98
A beloved member of the Crestwood community, William “Uncle Bill” Norris, has sadly passed away at the age of 98. Norris, who was a World War II veteran and a member of American Legion Post 39, died on February 9th. His passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Born on August 22, 1925, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Norris enlisted in the Army on his 18th birthday. He served as a WWII Army Veteran in the Pacific Theatre, bravely fighting for his country. After returning home from the war, Norris dedicated himself to a career as a big crane operator for an impressive 40 years before retiring.
A Tragic Loss
Norris was enjoying his winter retreat with his family at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, when he passed away. His sudden departure has left his loved ones in shock and mourning. His body will be transported back to his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, and is scheduled to arrive at the Louisville International Airport on Friday at 10 a.m.
Farewell, Uncle Bill
A visitation for Norris will be held on Friday from 3-7 p.m. at Stoess Funeral Home, located at 6534 West Highway 22 in Crestwood, Kentucky. This will be an opportunity for friends, family, and members of the community to pay their respects and say their final goodbyes. On Saturday, a funeral service will take place at the same location at 1 p.m., honoring Norris and celebrating his life.
A Legacy Lives On
William Norris leaves behind a daughter, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family and loved ones will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and the impact he had on their lives.
Honoring a Hero
In honor of Norris’ dedication to his country, his family kindly requests that contributions be made to American Legion Post 39. They also invite military members and veterans to wear their service uniforms or veteran service organization clothing to pay tribute to Uncle Bill’s military service.
William “Uncle Bill” Norris will be deeply missed by the Crestwood community and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His selfless service, unwavering dedication, and kind heart will be remembered and celebrated for years to come.
