INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis resident is now facing an attempted murder charge in connection with an alleged altercation that took place in Miami County, according to Indiana State Police (ISP).

On February 6th, a woman contacted the ISP claiming to be a victim of a domestic battery incident, stating that the incident had occurred on January 27th.

According to the ISP, the woman reported that the incident took place while they were driving on U.S. 31 in Miami County, Indiana. The alleged perpetrator, identified as 42-year-old Achery Nailon, was a passenger in her vehicle.

The woman recounted to the ISP that Nailon became physically violent during the drive, pointing a firearm at her and even firing a shot through the roof of the vehicle.

Following an extensive and meticulous investigation by the ISP, involving numerous complexities, a warrant was issued through Miami County on Wednesday. Nailon was subsequently apprehended during a high-risk traffic stop in Indianapolis.

According to the ISP, Nailon is now facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, criminal confinement, pointing a firearm at another person, domestic battery, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and violation of probation stemming from a prior charge in St. Joseph County, Indiana.

Nailon has been transported to the Marion County Jail and is currently awaiting extradition to Miami County.

Throughout the investigation, the ISP collaborated closely with the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office. Detectives are actively pursuing additional leads to ensure a comprehensive resolution to the case.
