CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) – A man is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and more in connection with another man’s fentanyl overdose death.

Scott Grisham, a 38-year-old resident of Clermont County, has been indicted for his alleged involvement in the death of Robert Murphy, a 29-year-old individual who succumbed to a fentanyl overdose on September 2, 2023, as revealed by the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident unfolded early in the morning around 7 a.m. when a 911 call was made to report an unresponsive man on State Route 222 in Monroe Township, Ohio.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies and an EMS team discovered Robert Murphy lying motionless in the grass within Monroe Presbyterian Cemetery, according to the sheriff’s office statement.

Despite their efforts, attempts to revive Murphy proved unsuccessful.

Following the discovery, detectives initiated an investigation to uncover the circumstances leading to Murphy’s tragic demise. Their inquiry revealed that Murphy had been present at a nearby residence in Hi-View Estates prior to being taken to the cemetery.

After conducting a search of the Hi-View Estates property, law enforcement officials seized various electronic devices that provided crucial evidence linking Murphy’s presence at Scott Grisham’s residence, as stated by the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office.

In their official press release on Thursday, the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office stated, “Further evidence was located within the searched electronics that identified Grisham as the sole person who supplied Murphy with a substance resulting in his fatal overdose.”

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office determined that the cause of Robert Murphy’s death was Acute Fentanyl Intoxication.

Subsequently, Scott Grisham was arrested on Thursday and is now facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, corrupting another person with drugs, and trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, according to the sheriff’s office.

Currently, the 38-year-old suspect is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear before Clermont County Common Pleas Judge Victor Haddad on February 16.
