On Wednesday, February 7, at approximately 5:50 p.m., the incident occurred on Highway 101, near milepost 157. According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), their investigation revealed that a Toyota Prius attempted to make a left turn onto northbound Highway 101, resulting in a collision with a southbound Subaru Outback.

Regrettably, the driver of the Toyota, identified as 77-year-old Gordon Eugene Dale from Waldport, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Subaru’s driver and two passengers sustained minor injuries, as reported by OSP.

Due to the crash investigation, traffic on Highway 101 experienced disruptions for approximately two and a half hours.
