A 28-year-old man who barricaded himself within a residence in Glendale for over six hours on Wednesday has been apprehended on suspicion of murder. The arrest came after law enforcement officers discovered a lifeless body following the suspect’s surrender.

The Glendale Police Department received a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 3300 block of Reta Street, prompting an immediate response from officers. Sergeant Victor Jackson confirmed that evidence of an assault was found at the scene, but both the suspect and victim were initially unaccounted for. As a precautionary measure, three local schools were placed on lockdown.

After a comprehensive investigation, authorities successfully identified the suspect’s whereabouts, locating him within a residence on Reta Street. Consequently, the lockdowns were lifted, ensuring the safe departure of students from the affected schools.

Efforts to Apprehend the Suspect

Sgt. Jackson stated, “The Glendale Police Department’s Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT Team were deployed to initiate negotiations with the suspect. After several hours, 28-year-old Vahan Keshishyan of La Crescenta surrendered to SWAT operators.”

Discovery of a Deceased Individual

Upon securing the premises, law enforcement officers made a grim discovery. A deceased person was found at the scene, adding further complexity to the ongoing investigation. Sgt. Jackson emphasized that the relationship between the victim and the suspect remains under scrutiny. To respect the privacy of the deceased individual’s family, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has withheld the release of their name pending notification of relatives.

Vahan Keshishyan has been arrested and subsequently booked on suspicion of murder.
